I absolutely love everything about the game of basketball! There is nowhere I would rather be than in a gym and on the court.
The team's success is my priority and my teammates are my best friends. As a point guard, I believe one of my most important jobs is to praise, encourage, and motivate my teammates. My teammate's success reflects my own. I am a confident leader who leads by example with a positive attitude. There is nothing better than the feeling I get after a big win. I completely understand that these wins can only be achieved when teammates value and play to each others strengths.
One of my big goals is to play college basketball. I fully understand that playing college basketball is a privilege and an opportunity that most athletes never experience. I have been blessed with athleticism, but recognize that I am one of many at my level who desires a college scholarship. My work ethic separates me from other athletes. I refuse to be outworked. I love to be challenged, train hard, and feel the excitement when new skills transfer into the game. I strive to play fearless on the court. I am a competitor who hates to lose. However, I value a loss against a great team because it exposes weaknesses that need to be improved in order to continue to grow and succeed. I love to control the flow of the game. I believe in the game time philosophy of ball movement, great passing, and finding the highest percentage shot on the court. I love to play high pressure, aggressive defense that transitions into a fast break offense. I pride myself on my ball handling skills and ability to read the court. I am an inside and outside threat with the ability to shoot from the perimeter or take the ball to the hoop.
Academically, I am a top student with a 3.8 grade point average. Time management and dedication to my studies are the keys to my academic achievement. I realize that I will not play basketball forever. It is a tool that has already taught me so many life skills and will continue to help me reach my end goal of being a successful adult with a college degree and a career that I am as passionate about as basketball.
I love spending time with my family and giving back to the community. I attend Westwinds Community Church and volunteer in the children's program when I can. I also help with youth basketball within the Junior Warrior program at my high school and raise money for the American Cancer Society through our local Relay For Life. I find peace and strength in my favorite bible verses, "Be still and know that I am God." ~Psalm 46:10
