Personal Statement

My family has made me the way I am today. Being part of a family you support each other and help each other through hard times. Not going into detail, my mom was in the hospital sometimes when I was younger, and it made me grow up fast. My dad, brother, sister and I all stayed tough and cared for each other. When my mom was better, we came together stronger than ever before. Whether it’s my family, friends, or team, I learned to always have their back. The first sport I played that I excelled at was Taekwondo. Getting my black belt taught me what dedication really is. Furthermore, I was a tall, skinny kid with glasses growing up who was smart. I was a textbook definition of a nerd. Therefore, when I found Taekwondo it made me realize I have true talent outside of the classroom.

My love of football came from the world around me. Everyone always gets so excited watching and talking about football, one day I just thought to myself “I should try football out, why not?”. After playing my first season I fell in love with football and it became my life. But, I was not satisfied with my performance. I didn’t feel I was good enough as I could be. So what I did was start working out like crazy. To make a long story short, I put on 50 pounds of muscle in less than a year. It’s amazing to think that I actually went from 155 to 205 in that amount of time. That taught me I can do whatever I want to do in life as long as I put my mind to it. That sounds cheesy and like something my grandma would tell me, but it’s true. But, I’m still not satisfied. Not only with football but with school. I also don’t ever give less than 100%. As an example, if I’m working out and feel like that last push up I did wasn’t good enough, I’ll do 3 more. If those 3 aren’t good enough to me, I’ll do another 3 and so on. Like I said, I’m never satisfied. In the classroom if I don’t know the material well enough, I’ll sit down and read it as long as it takes for me to get an A. I don’t care if it takes me all night, my eyes aren’t coming off that paper. Sometimes I think I might be a little too hard on myself. My goals are to do the best I can possibly do. I’ll let that mindset take me where it takes me but I know it’ll be nothing but good places.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
