My name is Ben Thomas, and I am a devoted student-athlete committed to achieving the next level for both my hockey and academic career. My overall goal is to play Division I college hockey, while acquiring an excellent education.
Currently, I play center and right-wing; furthermore, I am a go-to player to put out on special teams, and will work to do so in the future. I am a hardworking player both on and off the ice. I am a physical player, play both sides of the puck and I try to make the best play for myself and the team every shift I am on the ice. My goal is always to be the first to the puck, win battles in the corners and to help make scoring opportunities for myself and my teammates. I arrive to rinks early for practices, games, off ice workouts and other team activities which allows me to be mentally prepared and focused. All of these attributes allow me to be, and will help me to continue to be, the best player possible.
I know that playing Division I college hockey isn't all about how well I perform on the ice - education matters. An excellent education is irreplaceable. I have always pushed myself to the receive and maintain the best grades possible. I currently take three honors classes and receive A’s in all of my classes. Currently, my G.P.A. is a 4.42, and I take pride in my academic achievements. While hockey takes up the majority of my time, especially since the rink is an hour from my home, I still find time to participate in the Men’s Choir at Anthony Wayne High School and helped with homecoming activities.
I want to attend a college that pushes me not only on the ice, but also in the classroom. The end goal is to find a college that fits me and my hockey and schooling interests. I strive to become the best student-athlete possible and hope to continue my hockey career for many years.
