Personal Statement

As long as I can remember, my goal has been to play baseball for a highly competitive program at the next level.  Being an integral piece of a successful program, as a leader on and off the field, is very important to me.  This means excelling in the classroom as well as the diamond.  I possess the tangibles and intangibles to make a program better.  My size and strength provide the ability to hit for power and maintain an extremely solid daily  presence behind the plate or at third.  I have dedicated myself to improving as an athlete and baseball player in the offseason since I was very young. This has taught me the importance of hard work, perseverance, and mental focus.  This commitment, to being the best I can be, has also helped me learn how to become a better leader and teammate.  I believe my continued commitment on the field, during offseason training, and in the classroom will ultimately be an asset to a program at the next level.

I have learned the value of being a complete, well-rounded person will separate me from other great High School athletes.  I understand the importance of being a very good student.  And, I value the difference I can make in other people's lives through community service.  Being an Honor Roll student my first Semester of High School shows this.  And, my continued dedication as a leader and volunteer helping underprivileged youth, special needs children, and younger athletes is helping me become a well-rounded person.  But, like in baseball, I can always improve.  And, I will over my next years as a High School student athlete.

And, displayed tremendous leadership and communication skills on the field. Promising upside at the plate, catching the attention of the Perfect Game scout bloggers (see attached press). Also displayed offensive abilities testing in the 85.87 Percentile for Impact Momentum, 80.46 Percentile for Max Barrel Speed, and 73.35 Percentile for Max Acceleration.

  • Reagan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he improved the most through an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean / transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.15. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he utilizes his body well. At 3B, he moves well laterally, especially to his glove side. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through a low approach.

  • Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona
  • 11/10/16 to 11/13/16
  • 11/10/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Reagan is a lean built C/3B prospect who is very coachable and has good potential. Behind the plate, Reagan has a strong, solid setup and moves well laterally with fluid actions. He presents a good low target and receives the ball with soft hands. Reagan has clean, quick exchange leading into a short arm action from a high 3/4 slot. He has a quick release and his throws are consistent. Offensively, Reagan has a tall stance with a firm front side. He has loose hands with a smooth load and takes a square stride. He stays balanced with an on-plane swing. Reagan is a contact hitter showing solid results to the pull side. Overall, Reagan has a bright future as he continues to develop his game on the field.

Training

  • Wimberly Training Speed, Agility, Explosion, and Core Strength
  • 1 year
  • Performed as a 14 year old. Improved 60 yd time by .6. Built vertical explosion to doing multiple sets of box jumps using 36" boxes. Brought shuttle time down 15%. Significantly improved core strength. All of this provided increased strength, durability, and power in my game.
  • ProActive Training
  • 2 years
  • Performed as 12 & 13 year old. Dramatically improved agility. Reduced body fat and increased lean muscle mass.
  • Sandberg Baseball Hitting Lessons
  • 9 years
  • From ages 6-14, Off-season, one-on-one hitting lessons with Coach Jared Sandberg
  • Stephen Vogt Catching Coach
  • 3 years
  • Offseason, one-on-one Catcher workouts with Stephen Vogt 2014, 2015, 2016. Significantly improved and developed blocking, framing, footwork, and field leadership/communication skills.
  • EDGE Fitness Speed, Agility, and Strength Training
  • 1 year
  • Currently training with Ryan Hollingsworth of Edge Fitness, in Olympia. Ryan has personally trained athletes at all levels, including my Catching coach, two-time MLB All-Star, Steven Vogt. Ryan highly understands the nuances of training baseball players, specifically Catchers. Workouts are focused on improving strength and balance disparities on each side of my body from feet up. They are very intense using bands, body weight, and resistance training. I have already noticed significant gains in leg, core, and upper body strength and improved flexibility. This has translated into quicker movement behind the plate, better throws from the Catching position, and greater power hitting.
