I am Addison Conti and I am a freshman this year (2017) at Tiffin Columbian High School. This is my first year playing Varsity volleyball and I am very excited to be a productive member of our team.
The coach runs a 6 2 offense so I can set and hit right side as I am left handed. This is a format that I am very comfortable with as I have run this offense in school since I was in fourth grade and at Blackswamp Volleyball Club since I was on the 10U team.
Volleyball was first introduced to me when I was nine at a Tiffin University Youth Camp and I have been playing ever since. I have played on National teams at Blackswamp Volleyball Club the past three years. The past season I played up an age level on the 15 National team. Even though our team was not as successful as we had hoped and we did not qualify for Junior Nationals, it was a great honor to be on that team. The level of competition and increased speed of the game helped make me a better player overall. The past three summers I have played on a two person sand volleyball team. Sand volleyball is a great way to build strength, power and agility which has been a great benefit to my indoor skills.
The sport of volleyball has helped me become a more focused and patient person. I am very competitive but realize that I am only one person on a team of many and we all play our part in making that team a success.
My goals for High School are to take advantage of the college level courses we are fortunate to take at our local college in order to get a head start on my academic future. Good grades are very important to me as I work just as hard in the classroom as in the gym. Currently I am interested in majoring in Physical Therapy and/or Sports Management in college. I wish to work with athletes and be an integral part in keeping them healthy and able to achieve their goals in their chosen sport.
There are several reasons why I believe I would be a good fit on your team. I am a team player and understand my role on the team. I am not afraid to speak up and be a team leader when it’s needed. My coaches have often said I am, “very coachable”, which I believe is an important quality in any athlete. I am very easy to get along with and have a positive attitude on and off the court. I love to celebrate every point and encourage my team mates if they are down. I work hard on the court and in the classroom and I am dedicated to success in both areas.
Hopefully this gives you an idea of who I am as a volleyball player and student and I hope you will consider me as a positive addition to your team.
Sincerely,
Addison Conti
