When I was younger, I struggled to find the right sport for me. I bounced between many different activities until middle school. When I entered the sixth grade, my older cousin introduced me to a sport called volleyball and I was immediately hooked.
Volleyball has not only helped me develop as an athlete and a student, it has also helped to develop my character. Playing strenuous games has taught me the importance of perseverance and teamwork while showing me that giving up is never an option; letting myself and others down is the biggest defeat of all. Likewise, losing difficult games educated me on the significance of not allowing failure to become a permanent part of life. In the same respect, winning challenging games showed me why it is always imperative to keep my head up and keep pushing forward. Regret is simply a product of lack of perseverance and hard work. Whether I step on the court, or walk into class, I always participate to the best of my ability to ensure I leave with no regrets.
With my successes in both athletics and academics, I’m looking for a college that will be able to challenge me completely. I’m enrolled in the most difficult classes available to ensure I get the most out of my high school education. I know I possess the personality and work-ethic to make a lasting effect on my team and community.
