Hi,
My name is Elizabeth Omahen, and I am a Sophmore attending Portsmouth High School in Portsmouth New Hampshire.
I knew I wanted to play Volleyball after watching a College Team compete. I began playing in 6th grade. I enjoyed the sport so much that practices were never enough; so I did set up a net in between two oak trees in my backyard, and played with friends and family to become more experienced during my early years.
When I look back to those days, I see how much I have pushed myself to grow into this amazing sport. With my parents support, my coaches help and my own motivation, I have become the player I am today. And by the end of my high school career, I want to say with confidence that I have tried my hardest academically and athletically, and I'm eager to carry on the same attitude in my future years in College.
I like challenges, it is a matter of fact I'm currently learning Italian independently in school and working as a Peer Tutor for Special Education Students. I have an interest in pursuing a degree in Special Education. My goal is to work with children with disabilities, to help them feel confident in their abilities, and learn how to overcome everyday difficulties.
I have had to overcome some new obstacles during my freshman year of high school. One being adjusting to the new school and playing on the Varsity Team. My experience in the Varsity Team has taught me greatly how to have a perseverant addittude in difficult situations. And teaching myself to thrive in becomeing a better player.
Over the years, starting with my very first volleyball in the backyard, to playing on Travel Teams. I have learned that what matters most is not being the best player on the court. But instead being an unrelenting and passionate teammate for myself, and the good of the team!
