My name is Annmarie Lawrence. I have been playing volleyball ever since the third grade. At the first volleyball camp that I went to in third grade, I immediately fell in love with the game. I loved the excitement of having a really long rally and really fighting to keep the ball alive. Ever since then, I have been playing Club and school volleyball. Some things that you should know about me is that I live on the South Side of Chicago. Right now, I am a freshman at Lindblom Math and Science Academy. So far this year, one of my biggest and proudest accomplishments is that I am able to start on the Varsity team as a Freshman. I am a good candidate for your team because I am a hard worker and I show a lot of dedication to a team that I am on. What makes me different from other recruits is that I bring a lot of energy and excitement to the team. I love to really encourage my teammates to keep working hard and trying their best. I also believe that you always need to go into something with the right mindset. If you have a negative viewpoint on something from the get go , you will really have a hard time overcoming your challenges. I stand out academic wise because all through grammar and high school, I have kept my GPA at or above a 3.0 . I have been able to balance my school work and volleyball. I always put my academics first and I still work hard to improve my game each and everyday. Lastly, I stand out athletically because I feel like I am a really good and experienced player. I have a really strong and powerful hit/downswing. I have been to various camps and training sessions across the US and I know that they have all really helped me develop my skills. My dream has always been to play volleyball and the college level and maybe further. I am able to work hard and do whatever it takes to get to this level. In college, I want to major in African American Studies and minor in Journalism. I am really interested in African American Studies because I feel that it is very important to study the history and struggles of African Americans in America. In closing, I really want to be able to really develop myself and also help the people around me.
