Molly Buddie '20 Recruiting Profile

I am Molly Buddie…a 5’10 sophomore from Redwood City, CA.  I began playing volleyball in 6^th grade and haven’t looked back since! Fortunately, I had a club coach in 8^th grade who recognized that I had a strong aptitude for setting, and from that point on, I became a setter for all of my teams.  If I’m being completely honest, I was not in love with setting at first.  But now, in my third year at the position, I have fully embraced it, and I love “quarterbacking” my teams!  I have begun to thrive under the pressure that comes with the position.

I have been the setter on my club team’s “gold” level  (“A” team) for three years in a row.  Our club, Academy Volleyball, attracts some of the best talent from the Bay Area.  Our 15-1 Gold team (which I co-captained) finished in the top 10 in all three JO qualifiers last season, and our team for the upcoming 2017-18 season looks to be even stronger. We will be participating in several qualifiers again, as well as the Las Vegas Classic (Collegiate Showcase) in February.

My greatest strength:  a hugely competitive nature coupled with intense focus.  While I love competing in all games, the bigger the stage, the bigger I tend to play.  Something about a frenzied, “important” environment brings out the best in me.

This strength also carries over into the classroom where I am a very disciplined and hardworking student.  My goal is to get my college degree at a competitive academic institution while playing volleyball at the highest level possible.  My parents were both Division One NCAA All-Americans in their given sports (wrestling and soccer) and I hope to follow in their footsteps.
