My name is Kathryn Dolan and I am from a very small mountain town in Northern California. I am 15 years old and a 5'11" middle blocker. I am young for my grade and I'm still growing! At the beginning of high school, I set two goals for myself. First, to play volleyball in college. Second, to be valedictorian. I have started my advanced placement classes, and have earned straight A's so far. Our local volleyball club shut down, so now I am playing in Reno, 75 miles away, and I love it! I am interested in earning a degree in biology and moving on to become a large animal veterinarian.
When I am not playing volleyball, I work with my horses. Our family has nine horses, so we spend a lot of time outside taking care of animals, moving hay and fixing fences. We have a large 4H horse program here, and as a teen leader, I get to help the younger kids learn how to ride and handle their horses. I am the sophomore class secretary, and was the captain on my volleyball team this past year. Before I was born, the doctors twice told my mom that I wasn't going to live. Now that I'm here, I plan on giving life my full attention. I am grateful for my family, teachers, coaches and all of the opportunities that come my way.
