I want to tell you how I have overcome adversity, and how it effected who I am as a student and an athlete. I had never endured more emotional, mental, and physical pain at once than when I tore my PCL in my knee playing basketball. Especially because I knew I was going to be kept out of my sophomore track season. However, I pushed through and came back stronger than ever because I knew my goal was to compete at the collegiate level. After I was finished with rehabilitation I started weight lifting to get back to normal strength and speed. What I discovered was I could get stronger and faster by weight lifting than I was before the injury by working hard. I have the self motivation to make myself the best I can ever be and not take anytime on the track for granted. I plan to forgo basketball so I can run indoor track. When track season comes around I know I have to push myself even harder.
I am a very coachable athlete who will take criticism positively. I love the feeling of contributing to a team and that is one of the reasons why I want to go into the medical field to help people. My aspiration is to run track and field in college where ever I attend. My experience has helped me become a leader with my teammates, and classmates.
