Amber Young '11 Recruiting Profile

First and foremost, track is my passion. I have been running competitively since I was 13 years old and would love to further my career by running in college. My best event is the 300 hurdles with a personal record of 45.22; I am working extremely hard to improve this time. I have always been a participate in the 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relays. I love running the curve on the 4x100m relay. This summer, I am running the 400m hurdles with AAU track field. This is a painful and challenging race but I love running this event. My goal is to make it to Junior Olympics this summer in the 400m hurdles! One of my best assets is that I am an extremely hard worker. I am always the first person on the track, and the last person to leave. Not only am I hard working, I also have the utmost dedication. I am always on the track, whether I am running, helping to coach younger kids, or simply just watching. I am looking for a school that suits me both athletically and academically. Although, I am extremely passionate about track, school and my studies are very important as well. I plan to major in either chemistry or biology with aspirations of attending medical school after college. Ideally, I am looking for a school with warmer weather so that I can run year round, but I am open to all schools in all regions of the country. I am 110% committed to track, and would love to run in college! Here's my update. I made it to Nationals!! I had an exciting opportunity to run in the 2010 national AAU Junior Olympics in the 400 m hurdles event and finished 25th out of 65 young women in the nation. I learned a lot from this experience and my desire to continue to run is stronger than ever.
