Hi, my name is Gregory Beard. One of my main motivations is my parents. They make me who I am today. I am pushed every single day by them. Without them, I don’t know what’d I do. Football is in my blood. Both of my brothers played it. This is how I became interested in the sport. The oldest one, Terrance, played pretty much every skill position. He played CB, RB, QB, WR, and a little bit of Safety. My other brother, Corey, also played in high school. He played MLB and RB. While I was growing up, I went to all of their games. Because of this, I think I have more knowledge of the game and each position than other kids my age. This is one of the advantages I think I have.
I have played football since 3rd grade. I started off playing flag. The league I played in consisted of 3rd and 4th graders. In 6 games, I scored 8 touchdowns. Coming into my second year of football, I felt a lot more comfortable and confident because I was one of the oldest in the league. That year, I scored 11 touchdowns in 6 games. The next year, I had the option to start tackle football or to play another year of flag football in an all 5th-grade league. I decided to play one more year of flag football. This was my breakout year. I was on the same team as my cousin. I scored 28 touchdowns in 6 games. In my first year of tackle football, I sprained my ankle the second day of practice. I managed to finish the year with 9 touchdowns in 7 games. I ended up play defense most of the year though. The next year I was determined to come back stronger. I led my team and scored 17 touchdowns in 8 games. In 8th grade, I knew I had to leave my mark because it would be my last year of middle school. Even though the team wasn't that great, I scored a touchdown in every game. Tying a school record by scoring 22 touchdowns in 7 games.
From playing the sport, I have acquired good leadership and teamwork skills. Every game in middle school, I was a captain. This shows my leadership ability. Another thing I believe that sets me apart from other kids is my versatility. I can be a speed guy when you need it, and a power guy when you need it. I also am proud of my athletic ability. I am an all around athlete in my opinion. When it's not football season, I play basketball and run track.I also am a really good student. Right now, I currently have a 4.2 GPA. In high school, I hope to keep good grades because I know I am a student before an athlete.
