Every night, when I was younger my dad would come tuck me into bed. We stood at the bottom of the stairs 3…2…1…GO! We would race up the steps; first one to the top wins. My older brother, another former cross country runner, now a marathoner, would ask me to bring him something from another room, “no” I said, until he said “ill time you” enough said… I would begin sprinting to retrieve the item and bring it back, always trying to beat my previous time. Back then this meant nothing, but now looking back, this is how it all began. I was not one who started running on a team at a young age, I discovered my love for running when I was in 6th grade, where I graduated from racing around the house to competing in my first meet. I started by running for a local CYO team, where I set my first 2-mile PR of the season (16:47 for 2 miles). This is where my training began, I am proud to say that by the end of my 8th grade season my time had dropped to a 13:00. As a freshman, at Mayfield High school, I was the number 2-varsity runner on my team. I finished in 3rd place at the conference meet as well as the district meet. I was honored to have had the experience of running at the regional meet as a freshman. I strive to continue to improve in the future. My main goal, like most runners is to improve my times, and become the best I can be. I am a very dedicated and put forth my best effort in everything I do. I am honored to have had great coaching throughout my running career. I believe that good coaching and a competitive environment has shaped me as a runner and has and will continue to help me reach my full potential. I love being a part of a team. It is amazing the support that a team can provide. My team has become my second family, we are always there to push each other and celebrate each of our successes. I seek this environment at the collegiate level. Being a student athlete is not easy however, I welcome the challenges it may pertain. These challenges will help me become a well-rounded person.
