Personal Statement

I've been a competitive athlete since I was five years old and since that time sports has been a passion of mine. For as long as I can remember, my life has revolved around school and sports and I would love the opportunity to continue to live this way during college as well. Although I did not start track and field until the eighth grade, I immediately loved the sport, the people, the training, and the competition involved. I am prepared to work my hardest in order to become a successful college track athlete.

I am a very coach-able athlete, and due to my many years of gymnastics’ training I am quick to make corrections. I always work my hardest and never give up or quit. I have good sportsmanship and am known to be a calming factor to my teammates due to my own composure during competitions. I love to make a bond with all of my teammates and cheer them on while still being able to be competitive with them. I always make an effort to listen to my coach and be respectful to him/her and to also respectfully communicate any thoughts I may have. I strive to learn from my mistakes and improve my performance as much as I can.

My academics are just as strong as my athletics. I always put all the time and effort that I can into my schooling. I am an A/B student at a college prep school with a 3.6+/- GPA. From growing up as a student athlete who practices 21 hours a week, I have learned time management and working ahead skills. Since I want to go into the sports medicine field (Physical Therapy), I understand that grades and understanding the curriculum is very important, especially in the math and science departments.

I would be very grateful for an opportunity to be a student athlete in college and I will put in the hard-work required in order to become and to be a successful one.
