In my mind, the passion to get better and better at what I do never stops. My passion is directly related to my running career and my aspirations as a high school and hopefully collegiate runner. I began running in the 6th grade and I was by no means a competitive runner. Averaging 9-minute pace, my 1.5 miles were more than enough distance for the week. Coming into 7th grade, I knew I wanted to be the top girl from my middle school. I worked hard during the following cross country season, running a then-PR of 14:00 for 2 miles. Transitioning into track season, I hoped to lower my 6th grade PR from ~8:30. I continued to execute every run, never stop, and never falter in a race. That year, I learned to take the race by the reigns and run with it. I ended up running 6:48. My eighth grade year, I didn't see as much improvement, but I kept working and going above and beyond into every workout I completed, eventually running 6:41 for the mile. Currently a junior in high school, I have lowered my 1500 down to 4:47 in a matter of 3 weeks of training and my 3000 time down to 10:13. In regard to my freshman year - I was no freshman phenom, but I never intend on backing down from my pursuit of success. I have lowered my time from 18:30 my freshman year to 17:32 my sophomore year to my most recent PR of 17:03. I intend on running faster and faster with each race, and I see no end in sight. I share my passion for running with my passion for music and academics. In short, I was a "nerd" and a "music geek" before I was a runner. I am currently second chair French-horn player in the highest band at my school while also participating my school's all-state competitive marching band. Amongst all of this, I also focus on my academics, placing in the top 5% of my class.
