Over the years, running has increasingly become one of the best parts of my life, whether it be racing and training itself, or having the opportunity to help lead my team. I have had the honor to have been a captain during my Junior year for the 2017 indoor and outdoor track seasons, teams that came in third in our conference indoors and fourth at class states outdoors. Both of these accomplishments made GHS track more successful than they had been in the past decade. This fall, I look forward to joining my first season of cross country, where I have been elected as a co-captain, after three years of varsity soccer. It was my decision to pursue running as passionately as I can that made me decide to make the switch.
On a personal side, I hope to continue to push myself in the coming seasons. I want to break the 3:00 barrier for the 1000m indoors, get sub-2:18 for the 800m outdoors and break our school record of 5:06 for the 1600m. Currently, I hold the girls' mile record indoors and ran in our outdoor 4x800m team that went to New Englands in 2017. I hope to return to the regional meet in coming seasons.
As a student, I am very dedicated to my academics and am determined to continue on an upward trend for my senior year. My junior year was the first year that AP's were available to take and I am very happy with having challenged myself. Going into the next year, I hope to focus on my accelerated humanities courses, as that is the path I want to follow into college, as well as exploring my science AP.
