This year I learned what Commitment actually means. To get to practice my team drove an hour each way for three days a week, and once we had gotten to the pool there were three lanes. By the third day of my season, half of the team had quit. There were moments that I didn't want to continue to go to some pool that was so far away and then be crowded into one of the three lanes we were allowed to use. This pool was warm and didn't even have flags or blocks, but every day I came in with a positive mindset and swam hard. Now usually we swim 5 to 6 days a week but this year with our pool under construction we did three days of swimming and two days of weights, for nine long months. By the time the season was over I decided that this was the longest, hardest season, I have ever experienced, but it taught me discipline. With basically a four hour practice three days a week and having no study halls at school this year, I was always busy.  As the season progressed I got better and better at time management, and now that I'm in the three months of offseason, I have gotten so good at completing work and studying in short amounts of time without it taking over my whole night. I'm a highly competitive person and could see myself going down many different paths, but I'm slowly figuring out what I like to do along with swimming in college.
