Masy Folcik '20 Recruiting Profile

I began swimming competitively when I was six years old through our country club summer swim team.  After realizing how much I enjoyed it, I became a member of a USA swim club, Rockford Community Swim Team.  Over the past several years, I’ve set numerous club records and have been  a top finisher at several Michigan short course and long course state meets.  Through USA Swimming, I’ve also had the opportunity to attend Zone and Sectional meets, and I look forward to swimming at Junior Nationals in the upcoming year.  

While I’m proud of my individual accomplishments,  being part of a successful team has made the sport even more enjoyable.  As a freshman on the Rockford Varsity Swim team, I was able to help our team win Conference and Michigan Division 1 State Championships, the first in our school’s history.  I also received All-Conference and All-State Awards based on my performances in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM.  Now that I am a sophomore on the team, I am increasing my level of leadership, along with setting higher goals in the pool and in the classroom.

I am currently undecided on a college major, but I know what I am looking for in a university.  I am focused on finding a school with strong academics where I can also reach my full potential as a swimmer.  I’m committed to being the best student and teammate I can be through hard work and a positive attitude.
