Carissa Melara '13 Recruiting Profile

My Name is Carissa Melara, I am a junior attending Summit High School located in Fontana, CA. I
have a GPA of a 3.8 and I am heavily involved in sports. In researching schools
to further my education, I am looking for Universities that will offer the
major I want to pursue and have academic programs that are relevant in today’s
job market. I am looking at schools whose professors can offer one on one time
with students in and out of the classroom. Though I am open to the size of the
school I would prefer to be in a smaller classroom surrounding. Geographical
location of the university will depend heavily on schools that fit my academic
and athletic requirements in particular offer Sports Therapy as a Major. I have been playing
several sports with varied levels for experience and expertise. I don’t think
my years of playing water polo and volleyball combined can compare to the 12
years I have been competitively swimming. My strongest event is the 100
breaststroke in which I currently hold a 1:09:67. I was All League MVP my
Sophomore year and made the Varsity team the two years of my high school career
so far. Apart from competing at the high school level, I have competed within
the Fontana Aquatics club for 10 years and transitioned to compete with the
Redlands swim team. My search to further my
education can be summed up in a quest for the best academic experience with the
most selective professors that can offer one on one time with students outside
the classroom as well as in class.
