My name is Vanessa DeRado and I'm from Fort Mill, SC. I'm a student in the Class of 2020 at Fort Mill High School. I was a starting center back for the varsity soccer team and selected All Region for SC Region 4 - AAAAA in 2017. I am the team captain for my U17 club team at Charlotte United Palmetto FC. I have two years’ experience as a player on the SC ODP Region III '01 team. In addition to soccer, I hold a 3.875 GPA and will be expanding my curriculum by taking several honors level courses in the upcoming school year. I am looking to continue my education at a college or university of any size or location. It’s most important to me that I attend a school that will challenge me both in the classroom and on the field. I am a leader, as well as a good team player. I challenge myself physically and mentally and always keep my focus on not only being the best athlete I can be but also the best person I can be. A coach once told me, “you live like you play.” That statement holds very true in my heart. If you are respectful, hardworking, positive and disciplined in your everyday life, you will carry those same qualities with you when you play.
