My collegiate goals are to attend a four-year college and graduate with honors, while playing varsity soccer at the Division 1 level, if possible. I dream of being a Veterinarian one day. I have been home schooled since Kindergarten, and my academic discipline from this experience suits me for college. My grades reflect my commitment to academics. Academics have always come first in our house; I have had to maintain good grades in order to play soccer. I have not settled for "good" however- I always try for great! Currently I am one grade level ahead in my academics while taking all Honors courses. Orthopedic doctors and my orthodontist have predicted for me to reach a height of 6ft. as my growth plates are still wide open for my age, and I believe making me stronger and faster then most.
Soccer has taught me about teamwork, in the largest sense. All my different roles in club and ODP teams and special camps has helped me to understand the value of being a good teammate on the team. Some of my favorite soccer memories have been with ODP at regional camps, soccer camp at Cornell; a national tournament in Colorado, (we were 4th in the country); and carpooling with teammates to and from practices.
Soccer has also taught me to appreciate the teamwork of my family- traveling all over the country with me for games; foregoing vacations for tournaments; and making tough financial decisions based on my soccer development. Before you stereotype me as a "soccer diva," you need to know that I have never felt pressured by my family to play soccer. I play soccer for me, because I enjoy it. As I have gotten older, I have realized that I can use soccer as a vehicle to pay for my college education. It would be great to do what I love to obtain what I want. It would be a win-win for whatever college I attend.
