When I was six years old, I first asked my parents to join the local soccer rec team. They signed me up and I immediately fell in love with soccer. At our first game I didn't start but when the goalie was hurt I was thrown in the goal because I was "the only one that wouldn't cry". To this day I have known that goal is the position for me.
I joined a local travel soccer club called T.A.S.S. at the age of ten. T.A.S.S. stands for Technique, Accuracy, Speed, and Success, and that is exactly what happened for me there. I expanded my soccer experience to learn with kids that want to play at college just like me.
My academics are very important to me. I strive for the best grades I can with every class I take. I choose my classes very carefully in order to get everything I can out of my high school years. I consistently challenge myself with my classes just like I do with everything else in life. I am always willing to push myself very hard for something that I want and to make myself better.
I love being involved in my community, and I volunteer for everything I can. For my school I am involved in Student Council, Community Helping Other Organizations Succeed (CHOPS), and am a co-editor of the student newspaper. I also volunteer for the Steamtown Marathon every year and the United Way. I love being involved with everything I can because I love to make a difference in my community.
I was raised understanding the balance of academics and work with sports. It has taken a lot of hard work to be the athlete I am today but I am willing to put in more work to push myself to the next level. I have a great work ethic and am very hard working. Every athlete says that they are very hardworking but not many have the mental part of the game down. Not many athletes can look at a field and say where each player should be. As a goalkeeper, that is a very important skill that I possess. I believe that I can make not only myself better but also those around me.
