Personal Statement

My name is Mollie Gabriel and I am currently a Sophomore at Logan High School in Logan, Ohio. I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old, starting first in a Rec League than transitioning to a Club Team in the fall of 2011. At the time there were not enough girls to have an all girls team, so I played on a boy's team. When we entered into tournament play, we always had to play in the boy's bracket due to our co-ed status. I believe, looking back, this was a benefit to me as it made me learn to play tough. I had to work on my skills so that I was able to compete with the boys on my team as well as the opponent.  This made me a smarter and more developed player. In the Spring of 2017, I was unable to continue playing with my co-ed team and so tried out for and made a girl's team close to my home (Lancaster Select Soccer Association- U16). Looking for the opportunity to continue developing my skills, I sought out a more competitive team/league to play for in the spring of 2018. I tried out for and made the Premier U17 Pride Soccer Club Girls Team.  In addition to playing club soccer, I started on the Varsity soccer team my Freshman year.

Playing soccer is my passion. I not only enjoy it from a physical aspect, but it provides me the opportunities to learn other life skills as well. I have learned to play as part of a team. One player does not win games, 11 players win games. I play Attacking Center Mid, and I like to look for opportunities to feed my fellow teammates the ball,  especially if they have the advantage to score. Soccer has taught me how to be disciplined in order to improve on my skills and accomplish my goals. Being a part of a team has also taught me the importance of respecting my coaches, fellow players, and the parents who make it possible for us to be successful.

In addition to my love of soccer, I also have strong understanding that being an athlete is not the most important thing. Being a student comes first and foremost. I have pushed myself in the classroom the same as I push myself on the field.  This year I am enrolled in all AP or Honors classes. As I pursue the opportunity to play soccer at the next level, I also want to make sure there is an academic program that meets my desire to pursue medicine.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
