My name is Rachel Ross and i'm currently in my sophomore year of high school at Somers High school in Somers , NY. Soccer has been my passion since the 2nd grade and I have always seen the field as a place I am at my best. Going into Academy soccer the year as the youngest player on the team and a goalkeeper was definitely a huge change from where I had been before, but it has given me a chance to learn and improve. I took a large risk joining a new team that already had a very good keeper and knowing ,this season would be about new opportunities and most of all 100 percent effort. Moving to this team was something I did for myself in hopes to continue my journey into college at a high level. Over the past few months I have learned to work for playtime which has been the most amazing feeling to be rewarded for hard work.
Although soccer is such a large part of my life, I am aware of the academics off the field. I do well in school and put great amounts of effort into my work. I do have some academic disadvantages but, they have taught me that even though things may take me longer its better than rushing through my work. I currently have around a 3.7 GPA for the first quarter of 10th grade which I hope to improve over the course of the year. I will always feel my best when i'm on the field and hope to find the right place to continue my journey following high school.
