Soccer, has taught me it’s not about one but about the team. Throughout my early career of soccer I’ve also learned its best to showcase my skills and not talk about them. I’ve learned how far my body can go and how to push myself harder to help my team win, which is rewarding. Even in a loss, though, I can tell myself I’ve left everything on the field.
In academics, I have to challenge myself just as hard as I do in soccer to be successful. The private Christian high school I attend is a college prep school, and classes are at times a bit harder and challenging. I feel with my work ethic I’ve been able to balance both and this will help me in my college academics and in life. For my service hours I chose to help sick animals and assist teachers at a local Lutheran elementary school. I find it rewarding to be able to help others when I can.
When I’m not playing soccer, I’m at my Karate dojo where I posses a Black Belt in Sho Ryn Ru Karate. At the same dojo, I hold the rank of green/white belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I participate in several tournaments each year. I use the same principal in martial arts as I do in soccer. I believe to be successful, you have to take the stairs not an elevator.
