Personal Statement

Playing collegiate soccer at a high level has always been an aspiration of mine. Ever since the age of five I have lived and breathed soccer every day, and continuing to play in college would make every second of work worthwhile. I am a very devoted and hardworking person, and am extremely active in serving in my Church and use the leadership and encouragement ideas I have learned through serving others in playing soccer.

My leadership strengths on the field include organizing my defensive line, possessing a "do what it takes" attitude, reading the game intuitively and intellectually, and constantly staying positive and encouraging towards my teammates to create a good playing environment. My technical strengths include playing high off my line, diving full extension for low and high balls, fast footwork across the goal line, timing and reactions on breakaways and close shots, and aggressiveness of crosses and through balls.

I have trained with Tony DiCcico's organization, SoccerPlus, both in the Goalkeeping Academy and National Training Center, and train weekly with a private coach to improve my technical abilities. Being a goalkeeper means that I have the ability to change the game, and every time I step on field I strive to make an immediate impact!

  • Letter of Recommendation:"I am writing to give my recommendation of Trinity Schulz as a prospective keeper for your program. Trinity is an incoming freshman at La Jolla High School in San Diego, California where she carries over her 4.0 cumulative G.P.A. She currently plays for the Del Mar Carmel Valley Sharks ECNL 2002 team coached by Goran Nastic. I have been training Trinity as a keeper for the past 4 years. She is a natural when it comes to being a goalkeeper and such a strong role model for my keepers to emulate. Trinity has the innate goalkeeper talent and academic strength to make an immediate impact on your team. Trinity has a natural ability to excel as a keeper. The first time I trained her I was so impressed with how technically sound and physically strong she was for an 11-year-old at the time. She is so tall and strong with immense handling ability. Rarely do I see her drop a ball shot at her even at full strength. Her technical strengths include full extension diving for low balls, full extension diving for high balls (even flying for upper V balls), reaction time on close shots, handling the ball, timing on lofted balls, timing on breakaways, use of correct angles, communication to run defense accordingly, decision making, aggressiveness on corner kicks and set plays, and smart distributions. Trinity is very intellectual when on the field and controlling her defense. But as important as her technical abilities, she possesses a positive “do what it takes” attitude that demonstrates her leadership and sportsmanship. Trinity is a good kid who treats those around her with care and respect. As a previous Division I collegiate goalkeeper and a Division II collegiate coach, DMCV Sharks Competitive coach, I have had the opportunity in the last 10 years to coach and play with many talented keepers. Trinity is one of those rare finds. She encompasses the whole package you are looking for in a new recruit. She excels in the classroom while balancing a tough schedule playing for a nationally recognized top-level club like the DMCV Sharks. Your time will be well spent making contact with Trinity or myself to discuss your goalkeeper needs for 2021.
