Personal Statement

I consider myself a dedicated student athlete. I have taken a more unique route through high school as I am in the Spanish Immersion program and in the International Baccalaureate program as a diploma candidate. I have played club soccer for 13 years with several different clubs and participated in ODP for 6 years. This summer I attended the regional ODP event for Region IV as well as the Crossfire Premiere ECNL camp where I played with the 96 ECNL girls. In high school I have been a starter on varsity for 3 and will be a starting captain for my upcoming season as a senior. Being a player from Alaska does have some challenges but I have made the commitment to myself to be dedicated to the sport and strive to play at the collegiate level. In a college I am looking for a rigorous academic program that compliments competitive soccer opportunities. I am looking into a career in the sciences, and possibly pre-med.

Are you in honor classes?

Yes. I have been taking all Honors classes since 7th grade. I was part of the Highly Gifted Program throughout middle school. I took all honors classes in Freshman and Sophomore year then in 11th grade transferred into the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program. My senior year I am taking 6 IB classes in which 5 of them are weighted as AP classes.

Are you in AP/IB classes?

Yes. I am currently taking AP spanish. I am an IB Diploma Candidate, and take 4 higher level IB classes. These IB classes are co-seated with AP students, taught by AP teachers, and graded exactly like the AP classes. As of right now I am taking 6 IB classes and 5 of them are weighted as AP classes because they are as rigorous as AP classes.
