Hello Coach
My name is Megan Merrick,
My collegiate goals and aspirations are to earn my bachelor’s degree in business while gaining new experiences, expanding my network and making new lifelong friends that have common interest like lacrosse, but those who have differences as well.
I have only been playing lacrosse for the last 2 years. This is because there is no youth program in our area and I had a surgical procedure done to my foot during the spring of my freshman year. Although this procedure was minor, it eliminated me from competing in the spring sports at my high school. I enjoyed playing so much that I attended a lacrosse camp to help build and learn some additional skills last summer and plan on attending multiple camps this summer individually and hopefully as a team.
I realize that playing lacrosse in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity to change my life in both personal and professional aspects of life. While I am relatively new to lacrosse; I have been competitive in sports my whole life. Form the local softball youth leagues to travelling / tournament softball team. I have competed at the varsity level in Swimming and Lacrosse during my high school tenure. I have also been part of the Award Winning Marching Band at our High School that has received a number 1 with superior rating for the last 3 years and has won multiple competitions and awards.
Women’s lacrosse is relatively new in the area of Ohio that I live in. Our program is in its 6 season, it was recognized as a varsity sport for the high school that I attended last year. I feel that I have excellent stick skill with both hands. I am coachable while on and off the field, I see the field well and always hustle. I am a team leader and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates. I believe that no one should be left behind and do the extra lap to bring in our slower players. I am one of the hardest working players and recruit you’ll find.
I study hard in the classrooms and maintain as high of a GPA as possible, even in the classes that I don’t enjoy but are vital to my continued success as a student and an athlete. I also volunteer at the local needs pantry and help out with the concession stands at the local youth football and Middle School games.
As I stated earlier I want to attend a college where I can obtain my degree in business, by pushing push myself in the classroom and in lacrosse. I am open to any and all options. Ultimately I will find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible for me. I hope to become a great role model to all my peers and make my parents, coaches and community proud of the successes and achievements obtain from the opportunities that were given to me, by these individuals.
