My name is Christine Wolford. I am a 9th grader at Webster Thomas High School and a member of the class of 2020. I currently play defense and have played lacrosse at the club level for ten years. I was a starter on the JV team for Webster Thomas High School (Webster, New York) as an 8th grader and 9th grader. I also was named defensive MVP both years. I also play club lacrosse for Common Goal 2020 Orange. I have started on defense for Common Goal since it formed. I am proud to be a leader on both my club and JV teams. For example, when I am on the field and a goal is scored against us, I make sure our defense huddles together to discuss what went wrong and how to fix it. I pride myself on my aggressive style of play and never being intimidated by players from the other team no matter their size and ability. I work hard to make sure I have an impact in every single game I play.
Academically, I maintain a 95 GPA and took accelerated Science, Math and Social Studies as a 8th grader. I also took Chemistry, AP Prep Global Studies and Geometry as a 9th grader. I am taking AP Global history, AP Biology, and Algebra 2/Trigonometry in the upcoming school year. I want to pursue a career as an Orthopedic Surgeon. I am planning on taking the SATs in the Winter of 2018. I take my studies very seriously and have learned over the years how to balance sports with academics. I received 3 awards in my middle school career: two of them for outstanding achievement in science and math and the other for self-motivation and perseverance in English.
Besides lacrosse, I have competed in alpine ski racing for 4 years and am about to start my 5 year. I placed 16th in New York State last year in the Super G event. I also played volleyball and basketball at the modified level. I volunteer at a soup kitchen and help disabled children and adults. This summer I volunteered at my town's lacrosse camp for K - 6th graders. In my free time I practice lacrosse, help my parents around the house since both are professionals and work on my fitness.
Although I am a Sophomore in High school, I already understand the value of setting goals for myself both academically and athletically and how hard work is what is necessary to achieve my goals. I am very excited about my future as a student-athlete and work every day to make sure I am the best student and athlete I can be.
Thank you for your time,
Chrissy
