My collegiate goals remain consistent to my short term goals. I’d like to continue to excel both on and off the lacrosse field, and continue to develop as a versatile, well-rounded student athlete. Just like the classroom, I am always looking to push myself to be the best that I can be. My goal is to be on a team that strives to challenge ourselves. I know that I can’t expect my teammates’ best if I’m not giving it my all, so I try to lead by example. Last year, as an 8th grade varsity starter, my coach asked me to play attack. Having never played attack, I knew I would have to work even harder to keep my spot on the field. I was fortunate to have a coach that took the time to work with me when requested. Although apprehensive at the start of the season, I am grateful for the opportunity, because it helped me gain a better overall understanding of the game and improved my lacrosse IQ. Freshman year, after losing some key seniors, I became the starting midfielder and draw specialist, I knew I had to step up and become a leader. I stayed after practice with my coach to perfect my draw, because I know that possession is key. We won our first league championship, where I received MVP and All League MVP. Last season we fell one goal short of the title which made this victory even more meaningful. Now, as a midfielder, I’m focusing more on my speed and agility to help set me apart from my opponents. At the end of practice we do sprints and I always place myself next to the fastest girl on my team pushing myself, doing nothing but my best. Although I’m not certain of a major, my main objective is to go to a reputable college where I can graduate and enter a field I’m passionate about. Playing lacrosse at the collegiate level, and having the chance to play at a competitive level alongside teammates who share the same passion is my vision of an ideal college experience.
