Alexandra Hoverkamp '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi! My name is Alexandra Hoverkamp and I am from Riverhead, New York. It has always been a dream since I was young to play golf in college along a team who shares the same passion for the sport as I do. 

I have been playing golf since I was seven years old. I started playing at a local golf camp in Riverhead, where I now work. I am a counselor at the camp where I am grateful to teach children about golf all summer, just like my counselors did for me when I was a camper. After playing for years at my local golf camp and doing a few sporadic tournaments in my early golf years, I began to take the sport even more seriously when I made my schools Varsity golf team in 7th grade. I have been both the number one starter on my team as well as a qualifier for counties since seventh grade. Due to COVID I was unable to finish my 8th grade season, but New York State had a full girls golf season in my freshman year where I placed 11th place in Counties. Last year-my Sophomore year, I received the Coaches Award, the All-League award, and placed 12th in counties. 

I am currently a Junior and going into my golf season in a little less than two weeks. I am so excited to see what this season has in store, as I know I will have to put a lot of work in- which for me is not necessarily a bad thing. I am the Captain of my team this year, and I am excited to help new golfers on our team grow and be a positive role model for them as they navigate the in's and out's of the sport. 

I believe I am a great asset to any golf team both on and off the golf course. I am a hardworking athlete and student, and I love being apart of a team that can work together through the thick and thin to achieve their goals. I am persistent, and don't let a bad stroke affect my game. No matter the situation, I get back up again and maintain a positive mindset- something that is just as important as the actual golf swing.
