11/8/17: I don’t know what it is about basketball, but I can’t get enough of it. As far as my memory can take me, my twin sister Kylie (NCSA #2083372) and I would always have a basketball in our hands. I think it was 3rd grade when I learned how to spin a ball on my finger and all my friends were like, “How do you do that?” That’s when I realized that we both have something special. We’ve known that success isn’t given to you but you must work for it. I would have to put in the extra hours in the gym when no one else cared to. As odd as it sounds, after softball practices and games you would find us both in our driveway shooting hoops until the sun went down. But all that hard work is paying off. I can honestly say that I absolutely love this game. I think about basketball every second of the day. Basketball isn’t just a sport to me, it is my life. My goal is to get an athletic and academic scholarship to a college that can then help me to pursue my basketball career. When it comes to basketball, I work as hard as I can to become the best I can be. If I make a mistake on the court, I don't let myself down because I know even professionals make mistakes. The thing that makes me different from other players is my ability to pull up from the dribble. I shake the defender with my behind-the-backs, the cross overs, and the in-between the leg dribbles. I love putting the defender in a blender and making them lean the other way and then attacking the basket. Another thing I’m proud of is my shooting. I can shoot off of the dribble, pull up, and finish in the open lane. On defense, I am light on my toes so the offense has a harder time getting past me. I move fast on my feet with my arms out. I have quick hands to get steals and to deflect passes from the opposing team. The quickness I have allows me to get by my defender and score. My ability to see all of the court and my passing abilities are talents that I'm very proud of also. My sister and I love doing behind-the-back passes on fast breaks and hearing the “WOAH” from the crowd. Academically I get straight A’s and I work hard in school every day. When my sister and I finished our 8th grade game just a few nights ago, the JV coached asked us if we wanted to play up! We are so thankful for this opportunity! This bump up allows us to achieve our goal to receive an academic and athletic scholarship to college. I will keep grinding to achieve my goals every day! -Instagram: @kayliecrab / mother: @renee.c.mn / sister: @kyliecrab_04
