VANESA OTERO '21 Recruiting Profile

Hi my name is Vanesa Otero, I am from Kansas City and Im in love with playing basketball ! I have played club basketball year-round since fourth grade, I just recently started traveling with my team this year (2017) and my goal is to continue to play basketball throughout high school and in college as well. At 5'2" I may be small in size but Im big at heart, I put in the time and sweat other players aren't willing to put in. As a point guard Im very capable of leading my team and making smart decisions. When Im not in the gym Im found at my high school,Bishop Ward working hard on maintaining my 4.0 gpa. Im a very dedicated student who takes her education very seriously. Ive made principles honor roll every year since 6th grade. Im not completely sure what i want to major in but as of now i'm very interested in sports medicine. Outside of class i'm very involved in extra curriculum activities. I have participated in my school band for 3 years, I was elected my class representative, I was in my drama club, and I am in pep club. Outside of school activities I love being involved in my community. Throughout my entire summer I volunteered everyday at a local summer camp as a counselor taking care of younger kids. I really loved this experience because it kept me active all day and taught me responsibility. This spring I am looking forward to becoming a girls soccer manager at my school. Not everyone is able to find a balance between family, school, and sports but I have managed to make the sacrifices needed to make sure I succeed in being a committed student athlete.
