Rowan Mulholland '22 Recruiting Profile

My love for the game of softball started when I was three, hitting wiffle balls in my backyard.  From there, my passion grew as my team won Little League District, Section, and State Championships.  I continued onto travel softball, and learned the importance of continuous practice and hard work.

My goal is to play at the highest level of softball that I am able, while getting the best education available.  I have taken private lessons continuously from age 8 until present in hitting and catching.  I have a strong arm, great framing skills and an above average defensive mind.  I am a natural leader pre-game, during the game, and after the game.  I have good knowledge of situational softball and I use it to prepare my team. 

As a hitter, I am very hard to strike out. I understand working the count and I'm a tough two strike hitter.  My at bats most often result in advancing runners, getting on base, and driving in runs.  I am a three or five batter with a high on-base percentage.  My knowledge of the game makes me a smart base runner.

In 2016, I participated in  a combine-style tryout in the Northeast Region involving 11 year olds from Michigan to the East Coast, and from Maine to Maryland.   My tryout got me selected to participate in the USSSA Elite Select All American Futures Tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida.  

As a 7th grader, I made the William Penn Middle School 7th-8th grade team as the starting catcher in spring 2017.  My middle school is part of the Pennsbury School District in Yardley, PA. 

As a student, my family and I, identified my weaknesses and worked hard to address them.  As in softball, I have had private instruction to become a better student.  I have had a math tutor continuously since 4th grade and maintain an "A" in advanced math classes.  I have continuously been a "Straight A" student and received the Presidential Academic Acheivement Award in 2014.  I have also received the Lyft Pennsbury Character Award in 2015, which is given to only one middle school student throughout our huge school district.  I have had a lead role and supporting roles in the school play since 5th grade.  I am involved in chorus and honors chorus.  I auditioned with many students throughout my county and was selected to participate in the 2017 Bucks County Music Educators' Association County Choir.  In addition, as a 7th grader, I was selected as one of the few students to begin the first year of a mentoring program for underclassmen with special needs.  I also play basketball for the Lady Falcons Elite program.

As a student and an athlete, I would make a great addition to any team or student body.  I possess the work ethic and support to overcome obstacles and address weaknesses.  I hope to challenge myself to achieve my highest potential athletically and academically.
