The first time I became interested in softball was when I was 9 years old. My first time playing catch I turned my glove the wrong way and… The ball bounced off my glove and hit me in the face. I went home crying after practice, because I was embarrassed and mortified. However, that actually lit a fire inside of me, which made me not want to give up. From that first experience and many more after that, I feel this sport has made me relentless in my pursuit of excellence. I arrive to practice early, and I am late to leave.
An obstacle that pushed me mentally and physically while playing softball is when I got real close to tearing my I-T Band. The important lessons I learned from that was patience, how to deal with setbacks, and listening to my body. Another fun sport that has pushed me mentally and physically is rock climbing. I learned an important lesson from rock climbing. That lesson is when the climb is difficult and you are starting to get in your head, just clear your mind and focus on the task. My goal for high school is to learn everything I can in the classes that will push me. My goal for college is to learn and be prepared as best as I can going into my career.
