My parents have always stressed to my three brothers and I that academics come first no matter what. I truly feel that I epitomize the idea of a “student-athlete”. I have been blessed to have two supportive parents who have instilled in me a strong work ethic and a desire to put my best effort into every phase of my life. I am confident in stating that the hard work and dedication I continually put fourth into my school work and my athletics not only has taught me the value of those qualities, but will prove to be why I will find success in life’s journey.
As I look toward college, I want to be certain that wherever I wind up, I am surrounded with strong, competitive, caring teammates and coaches that not only want to win, but want to grow as individuals and as a team. Everyone will come from different backgrounds with different ideals and experiences. Each person will have their own set of goals and things they hope to accomplish. From an academic standpoint, my goal is to pursue a career in the medical field. Although at this point, I have not pin-pointed exactly what I want to do, I know that I have a strong desire to help and serve others and have witnessed first-hand the incredible impact those in the medical fields can have on individuals and their families
Like most successful athletes, competition is what drives me. I love to compete. My goal is to compete at the highest level possible. There’s nothing like being in that situation where my teammates are counting on me to deliver in a big situation and I come through. Additionally, I love seeing my teammates have success. It’s such an awesome thing when we are playing hard and having fun TOGETHER.
Whether I am on the volleyball court or the softball field I always do my best to have fun. I have found that no matter what happens it’s important to stay positive, keep my head up, and remember that I am in the moment playing a game that I love. If one were to ask a teammate, “What can you tell me about Emily?” they would most likely say that I’m someone they can count on to do my absolute best for us to win and that I will have a lot of fun doing so.
