Hello Coaches,
My name is Gianna Schiera. I am 14 years old and I play for New Town Rock 14u National Team - Dave Meyers.
Softball has been a part of my life since as long as I can remember. Thankfully, I have come far over the years and I am very thankful for having the opportunity to play every day. I belong on the field and I want to continue that for as long as I can. I want to play in college because I believe I have worked hard and have the ability. I am in 8th grade and attend Grover Middle School in West Windsor NJ. I enjoy attending school every day because of my caring friends and teachers. I especially enjoy science class and I think that I am interested in pursuing physical therapy in the future. Also, I am a practicing Catholic and I attend mass every Sunday. I will be making my confirmation in a few months. I am in a community service group called the Princeton Juniorettes. We have meetings once a month and monthly service projects. I have many abilities that make me stand out as a leader. Any person who knows me would describe me as an extrovert. I am loud and very encouraging. The skills that I bring to a team include easily making adjustments, power and being a quick thinker. So far this year, I am leading my team with a .500 batting average, the most hits, RBI's and I have a slugging percentage of 0.571 . I am a power hitter but also know how to slap. I am a left handed batter and fielder. My primary position is pitching. I have an ERA of 3.809 and my opponents’ batting average against me is .214. My pitches include my fastball which has curve ball spin, change up, curve ball, screwball, drop ball and a recently learned rise ball. My secondary position is first base I play there with a .909 fielding percentage. I can not stand a negative person when my team is in a losing situation. I feel it is my need to pick everyone up and provide hope for those who have lost it in a game situation. I am looking for a big to medium sized school located in the central to eastern parts of the U.S. I live for softball because the anticipation you feel as soon as you step on the field is the reason I play because it is so exhilarating. Having that feeling is definitely not ordinary because I have a sense of belonging.
