Allison Gutierrez '23 Recruiting Profile

At the age of five, my dad first introduced me to this sport that has defined my life. Softball has become a part of me and I truly don’t know what I would do without it. As a little girl, I remember watching my dad play for his work team. I knew then that I wanted to be the great ball player and individual he had grown to be. Softball has taught me so many things about myself, and how life should be lived. In life, one must be coachable, able to learn in whatever situation and be reliable. And being a good teammate means it takes more than just making all the plays. The character that I have built through these years of playing has brought me so many life-long friends, and to me, softball has done much more than just keep me busy.

Softball will teach someone thousands of life lessons, but before it, comes education. School has, and always will be, an extremely important subject in my life. Since day one, I have striven to be the best I can be. My goal has always been to keep all A’s and I have yet to let myself down. My goals for high school are to finish with all A’s every year and possibly earn valedictorian or salutatorian. As far as college, I am not yet certain about what I wish to major in; however, I do want to coach and run a business with my dad someday. Family is very important to me and we have overcome so many transitions. My father being in the Air Force for the last twenty-two years, has moved us around often, even out of country. But, we seem to manage every time. And though difficult, it’s given us the chance to do things most families aren’t fortunate enough to experience. I know for a fact that this lifestyle has blessed me with characteristics to not only adapt, but also to continue grow in the process.
