Natalie Shifflet '13 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Natalie Shifflet and I attend Del Norte High School, a new state of the art high-tech school (Del Norte High School opened the year I was a freshman). I am a 2013 graduate. As a freshman I ran cross country and for my school I was usually in the top three. Also as a freshman I was a starter on the JV softball team (as there was not a Varsity team because we only had freshman and sophomores). Academically I took the hardest classes available as a freshman and as a sophomore. This includes an advanced track for science where I was able to finish chemistry as a freshman and both biology and AP biology by the end of my sophomore year. Because my school is on the trimester system I am also able to get ahead in math and right now as a junior I am taking AP Calculus BC, the second year of calculus. My best subjects in school are math and science, but history interests me a lot as well, and I love to learn about almost anything. As of right now my desired majors are something in math, chemistry, or physics like accounting or engineering. My favorite sport is softball and I would love to continue to compete in softball as I pursue a college degree. I have been playing softball since I was four and I am now 16, so I have been playing softball for about 13 years. Also, I started playing travelball in sixth grade. I played for Chez Sievers and Tamara Poppe, who are All-Americans from the University of Texas, for three years. Currently I am on the OC Elite 18 Gold team coached by Greg Esteban. My primary position is outfield, but I am also a left-handed pitcher and I bat and throw left-handed.
