For me, softball isn't just a game; it's a place for me to be myself and it's where I am my best. I don't have to worry about anything except the game. I am focused and determined and always trying to figure out how I can be better. Last year my home to first time was at a 2.9, and as a fairly new slapper I was only beating out maybe a third of my hits to the infield. I was convinced that improving my time would increase my on base percentage. I continually got timed by my coach before practices and worked on my running form and now my time is typically in the 2.8's and my on base percentage is .545. I am still striving to improve my time and my goal is to be in the 2.6 range sometime next year. I just started working with a trainer in order to improve my speed and overall power and I am currently working out there three times a week.
Recently my team came from behind at the TCS Colorado Sparkler Junior Tournament, where we lost the first game of bracket play and had to fight through the loser's bracket, playing five games one day and three the next in order to win the gold bracket championship game. We often scored with two outs and no runners on, proving that we have a don't quit mentality. I use this way of thinking not only in games, but also in other situations. I am looking for a softball program that combines this mindset and work ethic with strong academics to better prepare me for life outside of college. As a smart, determined, and aggressive player, I know that I can be a good addition to your team.
