I am Aidan Blain and I love the sport of Track and Field. I am currently a Sophomore at Santa Monica High School in Santa Monica, California and my goal is to run at a top caliber Division 1 college that excels at both academics and athletics. In my Freshman high school track season, I was voted Freshman MVP by my coaches and I was the critical fourth leg of our Varsity, league-winning 4x400m relay as the only Freshman. I ran the 400m and 800m and was able to record times such as 51.3s and 2:02.62s while getting invited to prestigious track meets such as the California Winter Championships, Arcadia Invitational and CIF. In the summer of 2017, I represented Team USA in the Maccabiah Games in Israel where I won a medal! (it is the third largest sporting event in the world with 10,000 athletes.)
As a student-athlete, academics are extremely important to me. I finished Freshman year with a 4.0 GPA while taking honors classes and my academic goal is to maintain straight A’s throughout all of high school while taking many challenging Honors and AP classes. It is critical to me that I attend a top-notch college with an excellent academic program where I will thrive in my studies which I’m most interested in like Political Science and Performing Arts, while also giving me the opportunity to compete on a great track team with experienced and smart coaches.
Besides track and academics, I am highly involved at my high school. After serving as the Vice-President of my Freshman Class, I was overwhelmingly elected to be Sophomore Class President. As a leader on campus, I am in our school’s honor society as well as other service organizations that include Building Bridges and Youth and Government. As the next President of the Building Bridges club at my high school, our goal is to raise awareness to promote social equality and end discrimination. I am also the Sergeant at Arms for Youth and Government, which is a California mock government program that gives student leaders who are interested in government a chance to immerse themselves in state and local government.
From when I was a little kid, I always was running, whether it was a 5K or flag football. I consider running as my passion and I probably love it even more because I am quite good at it. I have grown up as a runner and I have been dedicated ever since I started actually running track in the spring of 2016. I am very committed to training hard and doing whatever it takes for me to be the best. My aspiration is to use my skills at a top Division 1 college where I can prosper as a top scholar and compete as an elite runner to help my college team win multiple championships.
