Being a dedicated and competitive dual sport athlete has not only improved by baseball game and maturity, but also opened doors and has taught me the value of a solid work ethic, athletically and academically. Varsity Cross Country as a freshman was an unforgettable experience. Meeting new people, building friendships with upper class students, and competing (and medaling) in all three invitationals has boosted my confidence going into my first high school baseball season and sparked a desire for academic achievements along the way.
At the Crystal Springs Cross Country Invitational in Belmont, CA our freshman team was standing by, in 90 degree heat, encouraging older runners (both boys and girls) for hours, waiting for our race. While walking near the start of the race before ours we overheard the race official talking about the "last race of the day" about to start. At that moment we realized our coaches had misunderstood the schedule, so we jumped into our starting box without a proper warm up and started the race with the other 150+ runners who had already assembled and prepared. I ended up placing 8th and learned that when you're in a tough position you have to dig deep and persevere through it. My interests academically are similar.
I intend to study Computer Science, Psychology and Statistics in High School and beyond. Learning about the human mind will help me become an even more effective all-around athlete, while positioning my interests in software design and user interfaces for the years ahead professionally.
