I am a student at Kimball Union Academy which is a wonderful school despite not having a swim team. My goal is to improve over the next three years and go to a competitive college in 2021. To meet this goal at a school without a team, I have had to do things most students who do not swim would think is extremely ridiculous. I wake up a five o'clock in the morning four times a week and swim an hour and a half to two hours at the Carter Community Building Association (CCBA) in Lebanon, New Hampshire. I go there to reach my goal of breaking the 20 second mark in the 50 free before graduating high school.
This trimester, I currently played Soccer and Rugby along with keeping to my swim schedule. I need this amount of exercise to help with all the energy that I build up if I don’t work out. Swimming is my passion, and I don’t plan on playing other sports in college. I want a team that will help me reach my goals and work hard while having fun. I am ambitious. When I agree to do something, I will give it everything I have. My coach calls me "the beast" because I will push through the pain, and I will do whatever it takes to get better in the pool. Despite my short swimming career so far, I have been awarded either the coaches award, the most improved award or the MVP award each season. Despite having dyslexia and dysgraphia, I have been able to maintain 3.0 average. Even though I have to work harder on reading and writing assignments because of it, I have done just fine academically. I know how to overcome adversity. I have practiced that all through school and these lessons in perseverance transfer to my performance in the water. I have never done any USA swimming program either.
