Gavin Cheary '20 Recruiting Profile

I have always been a athletic kid, no matter what sport it was, i would try it and maybe stick to the sport for a few months then lose interest in it. I had been playing soccer at the time for about 3-4 years now and my interest in the sport had dissappeared. I had always been in the pool at my house practically every day during summer break and i loved swimming back and forth doing laps wanting to get faster. So I decided to try competitive swim for a change and im never looking back, from this sport i learned the importance of commitment, better social skills, leadership and so much more.

I personally believe I have the leadership skills needed to compete for a college team, as well as the talent, work ethic in and out of the pool, and character to impact your program. Academically, my goals for the rest of high school are to maintain above a 3.5 GPA, challenge myself in the areas I am not as smart in, help out others when they need it most, and to help swimmers on the high school team better their stroke.
