I love soccer and am a hard worker athlete. I am currently playing as a forward, either wing or center. I can also play defensive mid or center back. I started playing soccer pretty late at the age of 8 years old. I was introduced and coached by my father who has over 30 years of soccer experience (He played competitive club soccer back in France). I started playing recreational soccer from U8 to U11 not knowing if soccer would be my favorite sport at the time. I started competitive soccer at U12 in a C2 level team (Woodbury Soccer Club, MN). The next year, I earned a spot in C1 at U13 in the same club and became the team captain. I was the leading scorer for the team. In 2017, the age group has been changed so I jumped directly from U13 to U15 and played Premier level in a different club (Sporting St Croix Academy in Stillwater, MN; a regional academy club from the MLS Kansas City Sporting Club). This year, I will also play Premier with the U16 in the same club. This year, I was one of the only 2 Freshmen making on the varsity team of East Ridge HS. As you can see, I went from recreational level to Premier level in 2 years. This is due to my love for soccer, dedication and hard work. I am a hard worker and does not take anything for granted. I am also a good listener and very disciplined which are the keys for my fast learning process. I am a good team player and always ready to learn. I have size (6'1 for 160lbs at 15 years old as a Freshman) and keep getting stronger. As a Freshman, I was the 3rd fastest of over 60 players on 60m dash during this past high school try outs including Seniors athletes. But soccer is not only my priority. My main priority is school. I was a straight "A" student in middle school and continue to excel as a Freshman in High School. I am looking for a good college that would allow me to succeed in both academically and athletically. My first choice is D1 colleges but will also consider D2 depending on circumstances.
I am the type of person that want to finish and excel in whatever I start. For example, I started Taekowndo martial art at the age of 5 and earned the Black Belt at the age of 7 years old. I have won all competitions in forms and placed in all sparring competitions at tournements. I am a fighter and will be using my fighting spirit to achieve my goals academically and athletically. My parents always tell me that "great efforts are always paid off" and "try the hardest everytime so I don't have any regrets". I believe that I can be an excellent asset to any school both academically and athletically.
Hoping to hear from all coaches soon,
Terrence Vu
