Placing 2nd in a few of my club teams tournaments may have been frustrating, but looking back it has made me stronger as a soccer player and as a captain. Experience is a big advantage that I believe I possess. I fell in love with the sport of soccer when I was only 4 years old and have been obsessed with it ever since.
As I got older I was diagnosed with dyslexia. This made school much harder for me and I was forced to attend tutoring in my spare time. Waking up at four in the morning every Tuesday and Thursday was something I had to do for 3 years while everyone else would be in bed. I pushed hard to get better every day. I maintain good grades in all my classes. Being the person that I am, I wasn't done. My mother and I joined a group called "Decoding Dyslexia". Later that year my mother and I drove to Springfield with the Decoding Dyslexia group to talk to our U.S. State Representatives to pass the bill HB4352. I even provided a presentation to Representative Jerry F. Costello II. The law was passed a few years later making it a requirement that all schools have a qualified teacher with the training necessary to treat kids with dyslexia.
I provided this story to you as an example because I truly believe it represents the type of person I am and shows how I will do anything to better myself and others around me.
