I began playing soccer when I was very young. I first played in a community league in the south side of Chicago when I was just three years old. Soccer was my first passion. I have many memories walking with my father and my brother to a nearby park to practice soccer. As I grew older, it was clear to me that I needed to work much harder in order to be successful. I found that the more I practiced soccer the better I became, and the more work I put into school the better grades I achieved.
I chose to become a goalkeeper because I knew I had the size and the body of a goalie. I also knew it would be a good fit for me because I am never afraid to dive or shy away from a ball. I really enjoy saving goals to help my team win! However, my work in the classroom is much more important to me. As I continue to succeed at school work I see my ability in the field is also improving. I have learned that the harder the challenges are in the classroom and on the field, the more focused I am. I realized that I could improve myself as a student, athlete, and most importantly, a person if I attended DePaul College Prep Honors Program on the north side of Chicago.
I chose to go to DePaul College Prep because it is the perfect place for me to succeed in the classroom and on the field. I tested into their honors program and they offer an IB program that I intend to enter in my junior year. Also, its soccer program provided a perfect opportunity for me. The starting varsity goalkeeper graduated from the school before I started. and I knew I could compete to be the varsity starting goalie as a freshman--which did happen. I finished my freshman year on the first honor roll at DePaul College Prep and I won player's MVP award and the coach's MVP award both during my spring soccer season in 2017. In my sophomore year at DePaul I won the most improved player award.
Any coach that I play for will get a player that is confident, determined, and willing to put in the hardest work possible to be successful on and off the field.
