Personal Statement

Seven years ago I walked onto the lacrosse field for the first time.  No knowing anything about lacrosse, my mother, who had signed me up had put the arm pads on my legs.  I have learned a lot since then.  Mainly I have learned that lacrosse is fun.  I love the action,  uncertainty and fast pace of the game.  Before long my soccer ball sat in the corner of the garage and my football began to collect dust.  Lacrosse became my focus.

Through lacrosse I have learned to stand my ground, put my team first and stay positive.  I have made good friends with my teammates and enjoy spending time with them on and off the field.  I get to be a leader and focus of the team, another benefit for being in the goal.  As a goalie I get to lead my defenders and be the voice of the team.  I feel confident and proud to represent them.  I trust them and they trust me.

Second in importance to lacrosse is doing academically well.  I would of course like to be a professional lacrosse player, but know a back up plan is a necessity.  I enjoy working with computers and am planning to build my own computer this summer.  I hope to get a BS in Computer Science and work in data mining or java developing.

I have been very fortunate in my life.  I am the youngest of four kids, so I have always had people to hang with and to put up with.  I have had very few obstacles, except for a fourth grade teacher that tried to ruin my life.  My father is in the Pennsylvania National Guard (PANG) and spent a year in Iraq.  Currently I have the privilege to represent the youth of military families and the unique problems facing many of them. As a Teen PANG council member, I help plan and organize activities for younger military children and help maintain the cemetery at Fort Indiantown Gap by placing flags and wreathes at various times during the year. I enjoy serving in this small way.

I love lacrosse and like learning every aspect of the game, not only my own position or that of defense.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
