I have a background that makes me a great candidate for collegiate level athletics. While I have only been playing ice hockey for four years, I used to figure skate for nine years; this provided me with excellent skating technique and speed before I even started to skate with a puck. I have been told many times that I am the best skater on my team. Although I have only played for four seasons, my stick work is far better than might be expected, and continues to improve at an exceptional rate. Additionally I understand what it is to commit to a team, organization, or program. I have only missed six practices in my three years playing travel hockey and these have always been for school-required events. I am an outstanding student who strives to excel in the classroom; I am frequently dissatisfied with simple solutions that many people accept and always question topics further than my requirements. I also never give up; I will always continue to play and fight, even off the ice, no matter the perceived outcome, and while this is an essential quality in any collegiate level sport, I know many athletes at my level do not possess it. I also continue to commit to private lessons and time to build my skills outside of my team practices.
